Southampton to Winchester
This route follows National Cycle Route 23 from Southampton to Winchester. The 15 mile route includes a mixture of on road and off road sections with nice views of the River Itchen on the way.
You can start the ride from the town quay and follow the route north past St Mary's Stadium, home of Southampton FC. The route continues north to St Denys where you cross the river and enjoy a nice waterside stretch through Itchen Park.
The next stages passes Swaythling before running along Southampton Airport and entering Lakeside Country Park. Here you'll find 60 acres of lakes, wet meadow and woodland. Just to the east of the park you could take a detour and visit Itchen Valley Country Park which also has some nice cycling and walking trails.
This route continues north through Eastleigh and Otterbourne before passing St Catherine's Hill and finishing in Winchester.
