Antrim Loughshore Walk
2.9 miles (4.6 km)This walk or cycle visits the Antrim Loughshore Park in Antrim. You can start off from the Loughshore car park and then head south east along Lough Neagh with fine views over the water.
The shared walking and cycling trail then heads into Rea's Wood where there are miles of peaceful woodland trails to enjoy.
The park is located on the north-eastern shore of Lough Neagh and provides open green space, lakeside paths, a children’s play area, a caravan park and the Gateway Exhibition Centre.... The setting gives direct access to the shoreline of the UK’s largest freshwater lake, with views across open water and regular sightings of swans and other waterfowl. A surfaced path also follows the Antrim Six Mile Water from the park to Antrim Castle Gardens and Clotworthy House, linking the lough shore with the historic estate grounds nearby.
The Gateway serves as the main visitor centre, housing exhibition space focused on the history and heritage of Lough Neagh, alongside a restaurant and facilities used by Lough Neagh Rescue. Outside stands the Protector of the Lough, a six-metre stainless steel sculpture by Casto Solano depicting the legendary Finn McCool. Moored beside the centre is The Joyce, a restored Second World War vessel that operated on Lough Neagh as a torpedo retrieval boat, reflecting the area’s wartime links with the former Massereene barracks. The combination of shoreline, heritage features and visitor facilities makes the park a focal point for recreation on the Antrim side of Lough Neagh.
