Brighton to Seaford Walk
14.3 miles (23 km)Follow the England Coast Path from Brighton to Seaford on this easy coastal route on the Sussex coast.
The walk runs for just over 14 miles along a flat, surfaced path which is suitable for cyclists. A section of the route follows the well-known Undercliff Walk Brighton from Black Rock by the marina to Saltdean.... This stretch uses a smooth, well-surfaced path along the sea wall, with open views of the white cliffs and the Channel. Much of the remainder of the walk stays on higher clifftop paths, giving wide coastal views for long sections. The distance is around 9 miles and the terrain is largely level.
The walk begins on Brighton seafront and heads east towards Brighton Marina, where the sea wall path is joined. This leads on to Saltdean, passing the striking Saltdean Lido, before continuing towards Telscombe Cliffs, where a clear clifftop path runs past a pub. Near here the route reaches the edge of Peacehaven, where the signed cycle route turns inland, though walkers can remain on the cliff edge. At Peacehaven the path passes the Greenwich Meridian monument marking where the meridian crosses the south coast.
The final stages pass Peacehaven Heights, Harbour Heights and the 19th-century Newhaven Fort before reaching Newhaven Harbour. From here the walk follows the promenade into Seahaven, finishing close to the tourist information centre.
