Cairn Table Walk

5.6 miles (9 km)

This circular walk climbs to the 593 metre high summit of Cairn Table in Ayrshire. The walk starts from the parking area just south of the village of Muirkirk.
The route heads across open moorland with wide views from early on.... The ground here can be boggy in places, particularly after wet weather, and there are boardwalk sections to help through the wetter areas. As height is gained the landscape becomes more open and exposed, with the broad summit plateau offering panoramic views over the surrounding hills and moors.
A large cairn, memorial and trig point mark the top, making it a distinctive and rewarding viewpoint on a clear day.
You can continue your walking along the River Ayr Walk which runs through Muirkirk.
