This wonderful French chateau styled house sits just to the east of Falkirk in the Central Lowlands of Scotland.
The photogenic 14th century house is surrounded by attractive parkland and woodland with miles of walking trails to try. The site includes a pretty lake, a Natural play area, a golf course and a Roman Antonine Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage site. There's also a substantial museum where you can learn all about the history of the estate and explore a fully working Georgian period kitchen.
To continue your walking in the area try the popular Falkirk Wheel to Kelpies Walk along the Forth and Clyde Canal.

Forbes Mausoleum in the woods. A large domed circular Grecian-Doric building which contains the remains of many of the Forbes Family who purchased the estate at auction in the 18th century.
