Clytha Circular Walk

2.9 miles (4.6 km)

This circular walk explores Clytha Park and Clytha Castle in Monmouthshire.
The route follows parkland paths and gentle woodland trails through the landscaped grounds of Clytha Park, offering fine views over the River Usk valley. The estate is managed by the National Trust and features mature trees, open meadows, and peaceful riverside sections....
A highlight of the walk is Clytha Castle, a late eighteenth-century folly built by William Jones in memory of his wife, Elizabeth. The Gothic-style structure stands prominently on a wooded ridge and provides wide views across the surrounding countryside towards the Black Mountains.
The return section passes through mixed woodland and farmland, showcasing the area’s blend of natural beauty and historic character, with wildlife often seen in the park’s quieter corners.
To continue your historic walking in the area you could head east to visit Raglan Castle. The Usk Valley Walk also runs through the area.
