Constitution Hill Aberystwyth
This circular walk visits Constitution Hill and explores the area around the town of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion. It's a fantastic viewpoint with views over the town below, several of the Welsh Mountains and Cardigan Bay. At the hill summit you will find one of the world's largest camera obscuras, offering a bird's eye view of 1000 square miles of countryside and coast.
The hill is a short climb from the centre of the town. After reaching the summit you continue to the woodland of Glanmor Fach before heading along the golf course and descending back into the town. The footpaths are generally good and there are really nice views for most of the way. On a clear day you can see the Pembroke Coast to the south and Snowdonia to the north.
If you'd like to visit the hill without the climb then you could take the funicular electric cliff railway which is the longest in Britain.

After your exercise head to The Glengower for some post walk refreshments. The hotel is in a great location on the sea front with nice views and an outdoor seating area for the warmer months. You can find it at 3 Victoria Terrace, Aberystwyth SY23 2DH.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
Just to the north there's Borth where you can try the Borth to Ynyslas Coastal Path which will take you north along Borth Sands to visit Ynyslas and the Dyfi National Nature Reserve. There's some splendid high sand dunes to explore in the wildlife rich reserve. You can also enjoy lovely views over the Dyfi Estuary to Aberdovey on the opposite side.

Aberystwyth from Constitution hill
Camera Obscura, Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth. This is a reproduction of a Victoria tourist attraction. Visitors climb the hill or ride up on the funicular railway to see the views and attractions.

This building was the Constitution Hill Café for many years, until replaced by the nearby restaurant in 2005. Of wooden construction, it had a typical seaside café aura. It is now used as a games room.
The Ceredigion Path on Constitution Hill. The path leaves the delights of Constitution Hill, heading for Clarach Bay, which is just glimpsed behind the nearest hillside. Beyond that, Aberdyfi is just visible.
