Gruinard Bay and River Walk

6.2 miles (10 km)

This circular walk visits Gruinard Bay near Poolewe, in northwestern Ross and Cromart.
You can start the walk from the car park near the bay and beach. The route then takes you along the Inverianvie River where you will pass the pretty Eas Dubh falls.... A trail then takes you north east to link up with the Gruinard River which you can follow back towards the bay.
The bay lies on the scenic west coast of the Highlands and is known for its wide sandy beach framed by rugged hills and rocky headlands. It offers splendid views across to Gruinard Island and the Coigach Hills beyond. The surrounding landscape is typical of Wester Ross, with heather-clad slopes, clear streams, and patches of native woodland. Along the route you may spot wildlife such as red deer, golden eagles, and otters near the river and shoreline. The walk provides a peaceful combination of coastal scenery and inland glen, making it a fine choice for exploring this quiet corner of the Highlands.
