Lerwick Coastal Walk
1.7 miles (2.8 km)This coastal walk in Lerwick begins from the ferry harbour in the heart of the town. From here you can follow paths and quiet roads south, with fine views across the harbour and the surrounding coastline.... The route passes through the South Ness area where you can look out over the water towards the island of Bressay and the boats entering the harbour.
Continuing along the shore you reach the rocky headland known as the Horse of Knabb, a scenic spot where seabirds are often seen. The path then curves inland, following the edge of Brei Wick with fine sea views for much of the way. From here you can make your way towards the Clickimin area, passing green open spaces and sections of shoreline that are popular with walkers.
The walk ends at the Broch of Clickimin, a well-preserved Iron Age fort beside the tranquil waters of Clickimin Loch. It’s a peaceful place to rest and enjoy the views across the loch, with the town of Lerwick visible in the distance and the coastline stretching back towards the harbour where the route began.
