Nant Ffrancon Valley Walk

A walk through the stunning Nant Ffrancon Valley from Bethesda to Llyn Ogwen.
The steep-sided glacial valley runs through Snowdonia with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and the River Ogwen. The route follows a section of Lon Las Ogwen along a quiet country lane suitable for walkers and cyclists. You finish at the beautiful Llyn Ogwen where there are waterfalls and a lovely lakeside path to enjoy.
The route also follows a section of the Snowdonia Slate Trail, a long distance circular walk which explores the historical mining areas of the national park. The waymarked trail is a good way to extend the walk if you have time.

Nant Ffrancon from the head of Cwm Bual Cwm Bual leads down from the slopes of Foel-goch and provides a steady if tedious descent to the side road which leads from Idwal Cottage down the west side of Nant Ffrancon. It is actually a lot further than it looks here.
