River Leam by Newbold Comyn Park. Looking upstream. When not in spate the Leam is sluggish if not stationary.

Flood-meadow, Newbold Comyn Park - geograph.org.uk - 1563337

Flood-meadow. The fuzzy trees mark the course of the River Leam. St Mary's allotments come up to the opposite bank, left. The bund and white marker, left of centre, are near the south-east corner of Severn Trent's impounding reservoir at Willes Meadow. The TV mast on Campion Hills is on the skyline

Observation Hill, Newbold Comyn Park - geograph.org.uk - 1564585

Observation Hill. Not high but steep-sided, enjoyed for sledging, rolling, skateboarding and freewheeling down (note cyclist at the top about to go) as well as picnics and enjoying the view. The hollow, right (I think of it as a dimple), may once have been the site of a spring.

Golf Course. This well-regarded municipal course takes up the northern half of Newbold Comyn Park. The track off to the left leads to the first tee; the track past the buggy comes from the 18th green. On the skyline is Observation Hill.

Pedley's Wood, Newbold Comyn Park, Royal Leamington Spa - geograph.org.uk - 1560696

Pedley's Wood. Alan Pedley was the workaholic Director of Parks for Leamington Borough and, from 1974, Amenities Officer of Warwick District Council. He was mad about trees. This plantation of natives and exotics, laid out in the late 1970s/early 1980s, was named after him. It is now within the Leam Valley local nature reserve within the park. 30 or so years on it still looks like a plantation and would benefit from thinning. This would help to dissolve the regimented appearance and allow the remaining trees to develop a more natural form.
