Clachnaben Circular Walk
9.8 miles (15.7 km)This circular walk climbs to the 589-metre summit of Clachnaben hill in Glen Dye, Aberdeenshire.
You can start the walk from the parking area off the B974 road in Glen Dye From here you head west to the Clachnaben summit before returning via Cairn of Finglenny, Hill of Waterhead and Netty Hill.
The route passes through a mix of pine forest, open moorland and rocky slopes, with fine views across the Dee Valley and the surrounding Grampian hills. The summit is marked by a striking granite tor, a popular landmark and viewpoint overlooking the wild landscape below.... On clear days, you can see as far as Mount Battock and the Angus Glens, while to the north the land drops towards Strachan and Banchory. The varied scenery and peaceful setting make it a rewarding walk in all seasons.
You can continue your walking in the area by heading east to visit the Drumtochty Forest. The Glen Dye Walk starts from the same parking area.
