Hill of Fare Walk

4 miles (6.5 km)

This walk climbs to the Hill of Fare just to the north of Banchory in Aberdeenshire.
You can start the walk from the roadside parking area to the north of the hill. The route then rises through mixed woodland before reaching the more open heathery slopes near the top, where wide views open over Deeside and the surrounding hills.... The summit area includes picturesque lochans, a trig point and several cairns scattered across the plateau, with long vistas towards Banchory, the Dee Valley and, in clear weather, the hills of the eastern Cairngorms. The hill has a peaceful, open character and offers a good mix of forest, moorland and panoramic scenery without feeling remote. The return follows the same route, giving further views across farmland, woodland and rolling upland slopes.
