Pen Arthur Forest Walk

4.3 miles (7 km)

This walk explores Pen Arthur Wood in Carmarthenshire. The woods include mixed woodland made up of conifers and native broadleaved trees, giving the area a varied character throughout the year.
As you climb uphill through the trees the woodland begins to open out, allowing views across the Tywi Valley on one side, with the higher ground of the Black Mountain rising on the other.... These viewpoints add interest to the walk and help give a sense of the wider landscape beyond the forest.
The Brecon Beacons Way long-distance route passes close to Pen Arthur Wood, and parts of the walk can be combined with this well-known trail. This adds a feeling of connection to the surrounding countryside and makes the woodland a useful link between lower farmland and the upland scenery beyond.
You can continue your walking in the area by visiting the historic Carreg Cennen Castle.
