Portmahomack Lighthouse Walk

6.8 miles (11 km)

This circular walk visits the Tarbat Ness Lighthouse from the village of Portmahomack in Easter Ross.
Starting from the village you first follow the coastal path north to the lighthouse. It's a fairly flat path with some excellent views over the Dornoch Firth and Moray Firth to enjoy.... Evenutally you reach the lighthouse which is located at the northwestern tip of the Tarbat Peninsula. It was built in 1830 by Robert Stevenson and is the third tallest lighthouse in Scotland, standing 41 metres high with 203 steps to the top.
The route then heads south along a pleasant country lane with fine views of the peninsula's countryside before arriving back in the village.
