Risca Crumlin Canal Walk

This walk follows the Crumlin Arm of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal from Risca to Newport.
The route follows the towpath from Risca heading south east past Pontymister to the Fourteen Locks.... The impressive flight of locks date from the 18th century and is nice place for a pit stop. The site includes exhibits about the canal, changing displays of local art, a meeting room and a tea room for refreshments.
The route continues into Newport passing the Allt-Yr-Yn Nature Reserve. The tranquil woodland area, offers walking trails, views, and diverse wildlife habitats. It offers a pleasant diversion from the route if you have time.
