Wicklow Glen Beach Cliff Walk

This popular route takes you along the Glen Beach Cliff Walk near Wicklow in County Wicklow.
The trail runs for about 2.5km so 5km there and back. You'll follow an undualting cliff top path with some fabulous coastal views to enjoy along the way....
You can start the walk from the car park next to Wicklow Golf Club and then pick up the trail heading north east towards Ceann Bhríde or Bride's Head. Here you can look out for grey seals and sailboats on the waters below. It's a great viewpoint with views of the surrounding mountains, Wicklow town and the Pebbly Beach below. There's also some interesting geology with photogenic rock formations including a natural arch.
The walk continues east to the Wicklow Head Lighthouses. The older one dates back to 1781 while the new lighthouse marks the easternmost point on the mainland of the Republic of Ireland.

To continue your walking in the area head south west to visit Avondale Forest Park. There's miles of peaceful woodland trails with views of the Avonmore River and the historic 18th century Avondale House here.
To the north east there's some lovely waterside trails along Vartry Reservoir in Roundwood. There's fine views of the Wicklow Mountains to enjoy here too. Just south of the reservoir there's the Devil's Glen where there's a fine woodland walk to a picturesque waterfall. You can also pick up the Seamus Heaney Walk here and explore an area connected to the Nobel Prize winning poet.
