Bishop Hill Walk

4.3 miles (7 km)

This circular walk climbs to Bishop Hill from the Scotlandwell in in Portmoak, Kinross-shire.
The walk begins near Portmoak Church and climbs through Kilmagad Wood onto open moorland, offering fine views across Loch Leven.... The route quickly gains height, passing through mixed woodland where benches provide places to pause and enjoy the expanding outlook over the loch and surrounding farmland. The trail emerges onto the open hillside, where the radar dome of Munduff Hill becomes visible high above the trees, marking the start of the upland section. The climb to Munduff Hill rewards walkers with wide-ranging views across the Kinross countryside and towards the Lomond Hills.
From Munduff Hill, the walk continues north over the plateau of Bishop Hill. The top reveals itself as a surprisingly broad expanse of grass and heather, with views stretching across Loch Leven to the Ochil Hills beyond. The summit cairn of Bishop Hill offers one of the finest panoramas in the area, taking in the loch’s islands, the Fife coast, and distant peaks to the north and west.
The descent from the hill follows a pleasant grassy path along the edge of the plateau, with views opening out over Kinnesswood and the farmland below. The path winds above small crags before dropping steeply through a gully towards the village. The combination of wooded slopes, open hilltop, and far-reaching vistas makes this one of the most rewarding shorter hill walks in the Lomond Hills area.
You can continue your walking in the area on the Benarty Hill Walk From Vane Farm RSPB Reserve route.
