Cruden Bay to Boddam Lighthouse Walk
8.3 miles (13.4 km)This walk takes you along the Bucan coast path from Cruden Bay to Boddam in Aberdeenshire.
On the way you will pass the historic Slains Castle and the wonderful rock formations at the Bullers Of Buchan.
The route follows one of the most dramatic stretches of the Aberdeenshire coastline, with rugged cliffs, sea stacks and caves shaped by centuries of North Sea erosion. It’s an excellent area for spotting seabirds such as kittiwakes, fulmars and puffins in season, while seals and even dolphins are sometimes seen offshore.... The path passes through open farmland and heath, with far-reaching views north and south along the coast. Boddam itself is a small fishing village with a working harbour and a fine lighthouse at Buchan Ness marking the easternmost point of mainland Scotland.
