Forvie Sands Walk

5.1 miles (8.2 km)

This circular walk explores the Forvie Sands National Nature Reserve located near Newburgh in Aberdeenshire.
You can start off from the visitor centre in the village of Collieston at the eastern end of the site. The route then takes you through an expanse of shifting dunes, heathland, and coastal paths rich in wildlife.... Along the way you can spot eider ducks, seals resting on the sands of the Ythan Estuary, and seasonal wildflowers brightening the landscape. The walk also passes the ruins of Forvie Church, a remnant of the ancient village buried by sand centuries ago. With its mixture of beach, dunes, and open moorland, the reserve offers a peaceful and varied walk with fine views across the North Sea and the Ythan Estuary.
You can continue your walking in the area by heading to the historic Slains Castle or visiting the wonderful rock formations at the Bullers Of Buchan.
