The forest sits just to the south of Lough Corrib with some excellent views over the lake from the trail. There's mile of trails suitable for hiking or mountain biking.
On the southern side of the woods you can also visit Lough Bofin and The Quiet Man Bridge.... The bridge is a significant local landmark having featured in the famous 1952 film “The Quiet Man” starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. The film tells the story of an Irish-American boxer who returns to Ireland to reclaim his family’s farm and falls in love with a local woman.
