Lough Boderg and The Quiet Man Bridge

This walk visits The Quiet Man Bridge and Lough Bofin in Connemara, County Galway. The site is located just west of Oughterard.
The walk starts at The Quiet Man Bridge where there is some car parking available.... The local landmark featured in the famous 1952 film “The Quiet Man” starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, which tells the story of an Irish-American boxer who returns to Ireland to reclaim his family’s farm and falls in love with a local woman. It's a lovely scenic spot with excellent views of the surrounding hills.
From here you can follow a quiet country lane west to Lough Bofin where there are more great views over the water. The lake is part of the Connemara Bog Complex Special Area of Conservation.

Quiet Man Bridge. The site draws visitors from all around the world and some have been known to remove tiny bits of stone from the bridge as a souvenir (not advised!). The movie is regularly listed as one of the top 100 movies ever created.
