Glen Dye Walk

7.3 miles (11.7 km)

This circular walk explores Glen Dye in Aberdeenshire. The walk follows the Water of Dye with some splendid views of the surrounding Grampian Hills.
The glen lies to the south of Banchory and is a quiet, rural area characterised by open moorland, conifer woodland and rough pasture, giving the route a very remote feel despite being easily accessible.... This walk can be started walk from the parking area off the B974 road.
Much of the route stays close to the river, where the Water of Dye flows through a broad, scenic valley beneath the eastern slopes of the Grampian Mountains. Red squirrels, roe deer and a variety of upland birds are often seen in the area, while the river itself is known for salmon and trout. The surrounding hills provide wide views across the Dee valley and into the heart of the eastern Highlands, making this a particularly rewarding walk in clear weather.
You can extend your outing by climbing to Clachnaben where there are some wonderful views from the summit.
