Hoffman Kiln Walk

3.9 miles (6.2 km)

This circular walk visits the Hoffman Kiln in Stainforth, Yorkshire.
You can start the walk from the car park in Stainforth and then head south along public footpaths to the Kiln. A trail runs right alongside the industrial heritage site between Stainforth and the neighbouring village of Langcliffe, passing the old quarries on the way.... You can also explore the large lime kiln's interior, with the surrounding 'Craven Limeworks trail' providing additional points of interest. Informative signboards are installed along the trail to detail the history of the kiln and the site.
At Langcliffe you turn west to pick up the Ribble Way and follow a pleasant riverside path along the River Ribble to the Stainforth Force waterfall. Here the Ribble falls over a series of limestone ledges into a deep, broad pool. In October you can see leaping Salmon on their annual migration up the river.
To see more fascinating geological feature in the area pick up the Settle Caves and Waterfalls Walk.
