This walk visits Lough Allua in County Cork near Ballingeary. On the southern side of the lake there's a quiet country lane where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll with some fine views over the water to the surrounding hills and countryside.
Roadside parking can also be found in this area....
You can continue your walking by picking up the nearby Macroom Castle and River Walk.

The Crannóg, Tir na Spideoge, Inchigeelagh
The Crannóg, Tir na Spideoge, Inchigeelagh. The Crannóg is the small artificial island out in Loch Allua. Such lake dwellings were constructed over a long period, maybe 1,500ad until well into medieval times. As far as I'm aware this one has never been excavated.
