Moel Morfydd Walk

5.6 miles (9 km)

This challenging walk climbs to Moel Y Gamelin and then onto the 549 metre high summit of Moel Morfydd in the Clwydian Range.
The route crosses a series of rounded hills including Moel y Faen, Moel y Gamelin, Moel y Gaer and Moel Morfydd. The route links these summits into a high-level circuit across open upland terrain....
Starting from the car park on the Horseshoe Pass, the path passes the Moel y Faen quarries before climbing onto broad moorland covered in heather. The route continues steadily from Moel y Faen to Moel y Gamelin, then on to Moel y Gaer and Moel Morfydd, before returning along the same line.
Each summit offers wide, open views in all directions, with clear conditions allowing views as far as Eryri National Park. On Moel y Gaer there are the visible remains of a small Iron Age hill fort, defined by a single surrounding rampart near the top.
