Tirpentwys Canyons Nature Reserve Walk

This circular walk takes you through the Tirpentwys Canyons Nature Reserve in near Pontypool in Torfaen.
The route follows a network of paths that wind through a series of steep-sided, wooded gorges. It stays close to the streams that have cut through the rock over time, giving the walk a sheltered and enclosed feel....
As you move through the reserve the paths rise and fall gently, passing beneath mature trees and alongside moss-covered rock faces. The narrow valleys and twisting routes create a sense of seclusion, despite the surrounding countryside being close by.
The walk is varied, with changing views as the canyons open and close around the path. It offers a quiet and distinctive setting, shaped by water and woodland, and is best suited to an unhurried exploration of the reserve.
