Lough Enagh Eastern. The name originates from the Irish Loch Eanach, which translates to "marshy lake". These lakes are situated between Judges Road and Temple Road and are popular local spots for activities such as fishing, canoeing, and golfing
Houses at Lough Enagh Eastern. The site holds historical significance due to a World War II incident on 28 August 1944, when a Royal Navy Barracuda bomber crashed into the lough shortly after taking off from the nearby Maydown airfield. The three crew members perished, and their remains and the aircraft were not recovered until 1971. More recently, the area was the site of a tragedy in August 2022 when two teenage boys drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming in the lake. Local community groups, such as the Enagh Youth Forum, are active in the Strathfoyle and Maydown areas and advocate for improved safety measures and amenities around the lough.
