Kilbeggan Harbour Canal Greenway Walk
2 miles (3.2 km)This walk follows the Kilbeggan Greenway in the town of Kilbeggan in County Westmeath.
The trail starts off from the old canal harbour basin just to the east of the town. There's a picnic area, the old canal warehouses and some nice scenic views here.... You can then follow the shared cycling and walking paths south east for just over 3km with peaceful woodland and countryside views to enjoy.
To continue your walking near Kilbeggan head east to pick up the Esker Bluebell Trail. The Belvedere House and Lough Ennell Walk is another local highlight.

Old canal basin, Kilbeggan. Old canal basin, Kilbeggan The canal arm into Kilbeggan, from the Grand Canal, is now derelict but the terminus basin, just short of the town, has been conserved and the old warehouse has been refurbished for local businesses to use. One day the basin might see water and boats again - the wooden poles by the warehouse are there so that mooring pontoons might be fitted some time in the future!
