Craig Yr Aber Circular Walk

3.1 miles (5 km)

This circular walk explores the woodland valley of Craig yr Aber near Bridgend.
The route begins from the car park and heads north on a track alongside the Nant Craigyraber river, leading into a mature forest of beech and oak trees. As the path climbs the western slope of Mynydd Ty-talwyn, it offers expansive views toward Margam Mountain and the surrounding Llynfi Valley.
The terrain is a mix of gravel forest roads and narrower earthen footpaths that are prone to becoming very muddy during the winter months or after heavy rainfall.... Notable landmarks along the trail include a small reservoir, an old dam, and streams that occasionally run orange due to iron deposits from historical local workings. The walk typically takes between ninety minutes and two hours to complete with a total elevation gain of roughly one hundred and thirty-eight meters. Access is generally found via a narrow lane near Aberbaiden, where a small parking area serves as the primary trailhead.
