Ridgegate Reservoir and Trentabank Reservoir Walk

1.6 miles (2.6 km)

This circular walk visits Ridgegate Reservoir and Trentabank Reservoir in Macclesfield Forest.
You can start off at the visitor centre and car park on the south western edge of Trentabank reservoir. The route follows a mix of country lanes, well-made woodland tracks and quieter paths through mature conifer and mixed woodland, with frequent views across the water and surrounding Peak District hills.
Trentabank Reservoir lies below the western edge of the Peak District, with open banks and views towards Shutlingsloe, while Ridgegate Reservoir sits slightly higher and feels more enclosed and secluded.... The area is managed by United Utilities and Forestry England, and the walk is popular throughout the year for its easy terrain, varied scenery and sense of calm away from nearby towns.
To extend the walk pick up the waymarked Gritstone Trail at the western end of Ridgegate Reservoir.
