Aston Cantlow Little Alne and Wootton Wawen Circular Walk

5.8 miles (9.4 km)

This circular walk links the villages of Aston Cantlow, Little Alne and Wootton Wawen, taking in a peaceful stretch of the Warwickshire countryside near Stratford Upon Avon.
Part of the route follows the River Alne, where the water meanders through meadows and tree-lined banks alive with wagtails, ducks and the occasional heron.... The surrounding farmland and hedgerows give the whole route a calm, rural character.
As you continue, the path leads towards the Stratford Upon Avon Canal where you will pass close to the Edstone Aqueduct, the longest aqueduct in England. Here the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal crosses high above the fields, offering an unusual perspective as narrowboats glide over the landscape below.
The circuit also passes through Wootton Wawen, home to St Peter’s Church, the oldest church in Warwickshire. Its Saxon sanctuary dates back to the 8th century, and the building preserves architectural features from nearly every period since. The churchyard and surrounding village add a strong sense of history to the walk, contrasting nicely with the open countryside
