Bucks Mills to Peppercombe Walk
2.2 miles (3.6 km)This walk takes you from Bucks Mills to Peppercombe along the South West Coast Path. It's just over 2 miles from the car park at the Bucks Mills nature reserve to the Peppercombe Valley.
This section of the North Devon coast passes through a quiet and largely undeveloped landscape of steep wooded combes, rugged cliffs and secluded coves....
Bucks Mills is a picturesque former fishing village tucked into a narrow valley at the edge of the sea. Whitewashed cottages line the stream that flows through the village to the rocky shore, while the surrounding cliffs and coastal slopes support a variety of seabirds and wildflowers. The village has changed little over the years and retains much of its traditional character.
The route continues north-east along the cliffs to Peppercombe, passing a succession of headlands and stream-cut valleys. At Peppercombe, a wooded valley descends to a secluded beach backed by striking red sandstone cliffs. Above the valley stands a distinctive Victorian folly tower associated with the historic Eastleigh estate.
