This looped walk visits Clogrennane Woods near the town of Carlow in County Carlow.
The woods are located a few miles south west of Carlow in a pleasant rural spot.
In the woods there are some peaceful walking trails with picnic areas and lots of pretty bluebells to see in the spring months.
The walk can be started from the parking area at the southern end of the woods, just off the L7133.
The area has had continuous forestry cover since the 1800s and is predominantly composed of beech, spruce, larch, and oak trees. Visitors often flock to the woods in the spring to see the forest floor covered in bluebells or to experience the scent of wild garlic, while other seasons bring a variety of ferns, mushrooms, and herb rocket....

Clogrenan (Clogrennan) Castle ruin
Clogrenan (Clogrennan) Castle ruin. The woodland is situated on what was once the 3,000-acre estate of the Rochfort family, who built the now-ruined Clogrennane House in the 19th century. The estate also holds a 15th-century castle built to defend a pass between the river and the hills. Historically, Clogrennane has been a vital center for limestone quarrying, with the local limestone used in many prominent buildings and monuments across the region
