Old Amersham to Little Missenden Circular Walk
9 miles (14.5 km)This circular walk from Old Amersham visits Little Missenden, Holmer Green and Mop End. The 9 mile walk starts from the car park in Amersham Old Town and first follows the South Bucks Way to Little Missenden before heading towards Little Boys Heath and Holmer Green.
This varied walk explores some of the finest countryside in the Chilterns National Landscape, combining historic villages, ancient woodland and gently rolling farmland.... The route makes use of a network of well-established footpaths, with attractive valley scenery, hedgerows and beech woods providing interest throughout the year.
Leaving Old Amersham, the walk follows the Misbourne Valley to Little Missenden, one of Buckinghamshire's prettiest villages. With its flint cottages, medieval parish church and tranquil village green, Little Missenden has retained much of its historic character. The route then heads across open countryside to Holmer Green and the small hamlet of Mop End, passing a mixture of pasture, arable fields and woodland with fine views across the surrounding Chiltern hills.
Returning to Amersham, the walk finishes in the atmospheric Old Town, renowned for its Georgian and medieval buildings, traditional coaching inns and picturesque High Street. The town has a wide choice of cafés, pubs and independent shops, making it an excellent place to relax after exploring this attractive corner of the Chilterns.
