Wendover to Great Missenden Walk

This scenic walk explores the wooded hills and valleys of the Chilterns National Landscape, following a peaceful section of the South Bucks Way through an area known for its beech woodlands, rolling farmland and attractive villages. The route offers some excellent views across Buckinghamshire, particularly from the higher ground around Coombe Hill.
The climb to Coombe Hill is one of the highlights of the walk, with the summit providing panoramic views over the Vale of Aylesbury and surrounding countryside. The hill is also home to the prominent Coombe Hill Monument, a memorial to the Buckinghamshire soldiers who lost their lives during the Second Boer War.
Continuing through the Chilterns, the route passes through quiet woodland and open countryside before reaching Great Missenden. This attractive village is known for its historic buildings, traditional pubs, independent shops and its connection with author Roald Dahl, whose former home and museum are nearby. The surrounding area also offers further opportunities for walking along the Chilterns' extensive network of footpaths.
