Ashbourne to Buxton Walk

This walk takes you from Ashbourne to Buxton. The 25 mile route takes you north to Longnor along the River Manifold Trail.... You then follow country lanes and other footpaths to Buxton passing through Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park before finishing in the town centre.
The route provides a varied journey through the beautiful Peak District countryside, taking in the Manifold Valley and the distinctive limestone landscapes of the White Peak. The River Manifold Trail follows the line of a former railway through the valley, providing attractive views of the surrounding hills, woodland and rocky slopes.
Longnor is a particularly attractive village to pass through, with traditional stone buildings and fine views across the surrounding countryside. From here the route continues towards Buxton, passing through a mixture of rural landscapes and quiet country lanes as it approaches the spa town.
The final section visits Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park, where you can explore the impressive limestone cave and surrounding woodland. The route then finishes in the centre of Buxton, famous for its elegant Georgian architecture, historic thermal springs and attractions including the Pavilion Gardens and Buxton Opera House.
