Backmuir Woods Walk

This gentle 2km circular walk takes you through Backmuir Wood near Muirhead, just north-west of Dundee.
The route follows a firm, wide gravel path through a varied mix of ancient broadleaved woodland, conifers and open glades, with one moderately steep section.... The woodland is rich in wildlife, with red squirrels, roe deer and a variety of woodland birds to look out for. A highlight of the walk is the impressive ‘big beech tree’, which is over 150 years old and makes a good spot for a picnic. There are also views across the surrounding countryside and a stone feature marking Millennium Corner. Most of the route is on a surfaced gravel path, although other trails through the wood can be rough and muddy.
You can continue your walking in Camperdown Park which lies just to the east.
