Buxton to Three Shires Head Walk

6.2 miles (9.9 km)

This walk takes you from Buxton to one of the area highlights at Three Shires Head.
The route runs for just over 6 miles following the Dane Valley Way south west from the town. Along the way you will pass Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park and the expansive Axe Edge Moor before arriving at Three Shires Head.... The significant spot is where the three counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet. It includes a well photographed packhorse bridge over the River Dane. The bridge is thought to have been constructed in the 18th century. There's also a number of picturesque waterfalls and fine views of the surrounding Peak District scenery to enjoy.
