Camden to Kings Cross Canal Walk

This walk follows a popular section of the Regent's Canal from Camden Town to King's Cross. The route runs for 1.4 miles following the towpath south east from Camden Lock Bridge to Gasholder Park, St Pancras Basin and Camley Street Natural Park.... Near here you leave the canal and head south down King's Boulevard to finish outside King's Cross Station at Battle Bridge Place.
This is one of London's most popular short canal walks, linking two of the capital's best-known neighbourhoods along a largely traffic-free waterside route. The towpath passes colourful narrowboats, restored warehouses, lock gates and modern canalside developments, providing an interesting contrast between the canal's industrial heritage and contemporary regeneration.
The walk begins in vibrant Camden Town, famous for Camden Market, its live music venues, independent shops and bustling canalside atmosphere around Camden Lock. Heading east, the route follows one of the liveliest stretches of Regent's Canal before reaching the regenerated King's Cross waterfront. Here, Gasholder Park has been created within the restored cast-iron frame of a Victorian gas holder, while nearby Granary Square has become one of London's premier public spaces, surrounded by cafés, restaurants and the beautifully restored Coal Drops Yard shopping district.
The final section passes St Pancras Basin, where historic canal architecture sits alongside modern offices and apartments, before skirting Camley Street Natural Park, a surprising urban nature reserve supporting birds, butterflies and wetland wildlife. The walk finishes outside King's Cross Station, close to the magnificent Victorian architecture of St Pancras International, the British Library and the many shops, restaurants and public spaces that have transformed King's Cross into one of London's most vibrant destinations.
