Chester Meadows Walk

This walk explores the Earl's Eye Meadows and Queens Park in the city of Chester. The meadows are located on the southern side of the river, opposite Grosvenor Park.... You can follow a series of footpaths across the meadows and along the River Dee which runs along the eastern side of the park.
The meadows form an important area of open floodplain and wetland beside the River Dee, providing a valuable green corridor for wildlife right on the edge of Chester. The open grassland and riverside paths are particularly attractive for spotting birds and enjoying views across the river towards the city's historic buildings and riverside properties.
The route can also be combined with the Queen's Park Suspension Bridge, which provides a pedestrian crossing of the River Dee, and the historic Old Dee Bridge further west. The surrounding riverside is one of the most attractive parts of Chester, with the meadows offering a peaceful contrast to the nearby city centre.
The paths across the meadows can become muddy in places, particularly after wet weather, while the riverside section is generally straightforward. The walk is also close to Grosvenor Park, The Groves and Chester's historic centre, making it easy to combine with the city's other attractions.
