This challenging 21.7 mile circular walk takes you around the beautiful Bathscape, combining countryside, woodland, valleys, rivers and the Kennet & Avon Canal with some of the best views around the historic city of Bath. The route is waymarked in both directions, with the climbs slightly easier when walked clockwise....
Highlights include the panoramic views from Lansdown, the Swainswick Valley and the ascent of iconic Little Solsbury Hill.
The route then follows the Kennet & Avon Canal to the impressive Dundas Aqueduct, before continuing along the Midford Brook and the disused Somersetshire Coal Canal, passing the historic Combe Hay Locks. Further highlights include the Millennium Viewpoint, Englishcombe, Newbridge Slopes nature reserve and the climb to Beckford's Tower, with extensive views over Bath and the surrounding countryside.The full circuit has over 1,000ft of ascent and can be walked in a single day, although it is also divided into four sections which make excellent individual walks. There are several pubs and cafes along the route, with possible starting points at Lansdown, Newbridge, Odd Down, Bathampton and Brassknocker Basin. You can start and finish from the Lansdown Park & Ride.
