Grit Fell Walk

This walk climbs to Grit Fell in the Forest of Bowland AONB. You can start the walk from the public parking area at the Jubilee Tower which lies just to the south west of the stone.... You then follow a footpath north east from about 1.5 miles to reach the 468 metre high Grit Fell summit. You can extend the walk by continuing on to Wards Stone.
The walk explores the open moorland of the Bowland Fells, with expansive views across the surrounding countryside as the path climbs towards the summit. Grit Fell is one of the prominent summits in the Forest of Bowland, with its elevated position providing an excellent viewpoint across the area's remote valleys and rolling hills.
The summit stands at 468 metres and is marked by a cairn, with the surrounding landscape characterised by heather-covered moorland, rough grassland and peatland. The Jubilee Tower is another notable feature nearby, standing prominently on the hilltop and offering a striking landmark in this exposed upland setting.
For a longer walk, the route can be extended to Wards Stone, the highest point in Lancashire. This provides an opportunity to explore more of the wild and remote landscape of the Bowland Fells before returning to the Jubilee Tower.
