Hunstanton to Cromer Walk

46 miles (74 km)

This walk follows the Norfolk Coast Path from Hunstanton to Cromer.
The 46-mile route follows the waymarked trail eastward from the popular Victorian to the pier at Cromer, traversing a diverse landscape of striped cliffs, salt marshes, and vast sandy beaches.
The journey begins beneath the red and white chalk cliffs of Hunstanton, passing the ruins of St Edmund's Chapel before reaching Holme-next-the-Sea, where the trail officially joins the Peddars Way.... Continuing east, you trek through the Holme Dunes and Titchwell Marsh nature reserves, both renowned havens for migratory birds and wintering geese.
The path then leads through the flint-stone villages of Thornham and Brancaster, where a boardwalk carries walkers through rustling reedbeds toward the working harbour at Brancaster Staithe. From here, the trail skirts the edge of the Holkham Estate, passing the magnificent Holkham Hall and the world-famous, pine-fringed Holkham Beach before arriving at the lively quayside of Wells-next-the-Sea.
As you head further east, the scenery shifts to wilder salt marshes and hidden creeks near Morston Quay, a popular jumping-off point for boat trips to see the seal colony at Blakeney Point. After passing through the picturesque village of Blakeney, you reach Cley-next-the-Sea, marked by its iconic windmill and the vast shingle ridge that stretches toward Salthouse and Weybourne. The final leg of the walk introduces more elevation as the path climbs the sandy cliffs toward Sheringham, eventually crossing Beeston Bump—the highest point on the route—before descending into Cromer to finish at the town’s historic pier.
