Lady's Island Lake Walk

1.1 miles (1.8 km)

This walk explores Lady’s Island Lake on the south-east coast of County Wexford, starting at the northern end of the lake near the ruins of Lady’s Island Castle. The lake is separated from the sea by a narrow sand and shingle barrier, creating a shallow coastal lagoon that supports important birdlife and wetland habitats.
From the castle, a circular footpath heads south along the lakeshore across Lady’s Island, following grassy tracks and shoreline paths with continuous views across open water.... The landscape is low-lying and exposed, with reedbeds, saltmarsh and rough grassland typical of this stretch of the Wexford coast. The quiet setting makes it a well-known location for birdwatching, particularly for waders, wildfowl and migratory species.
Lady’s Island Castle stands on a small peninsula extending into the lake and adds a strong historic focal point at the start of the walk. As the route continues south, the path passes close to the water’s edge, where changing light and weather alter the appearance of the lagoon and surrounding farmland. The circular layout allows a relaxed loop that combines coastal scenery, wetland wildlife and local heritage within a compact area.
You can continue your walking in the area by heading north to pick up the Rosslare Harbour Cliff Walk.
