Newlands Corner Silent Pool Walk

3.3 miles (5.3 km)

This walk takes you from Newlands Corner to Silent Pool. It's about a 1.5 mile walk from the Newlands Corner car park to the peaceful beauty spot.... You can follow the North Downs Way east along the southern edge of Clandon Downs before turning south to Silent Pool.
The route passes through part of the Surrey Hills National Landscape, an area of rolling chalk downland, ancient woodland and species-rich grassland. The slopes of Clandon Downs support a variety of wildflowers and butterflies, particularly during the spring and summer months, while the elevated position provides fine views across the surrounding Surrey countryside.
Silent Pool is one of Surrey's most picturesque natural features, a spring-fed lake renowned for its exceptionally clear, turquoise-green water. The pool is surrounded by mature trees and has long been associated with local legends, including the story of a woodcutter's daughter said to have drowned in its waters. The tranquil setting and distinctive colouring of the lake make it one of the county's best-known beauty spots.
Nearby lies the Albury Vineyard, one of England's leading organic vineyards, while the surrounding countryside contains a network of footpaths through woodland and chalk hills. The combination of panoramic downland views, peaceful woodland and the unique setting of Silent Pool makes this a rewarding short walk in the Surrey Hills.
