Stackpole to Barafundle Bay Walk

1.6 miles (2.6 km)

This circular walk takes you from the Stackpole Quay car park to Barafundle Bay.
It's a short but spectacular coastal stroll that begins by heading toward the small, stone-walled harbor. You leave the quay by climbing a set of steep stone steps cut into the hillside, which quickly elevates you onto the limestone clifftops.... The path is well-defined and relatively level, winding through a grassy plateau that offers wide-open views across the turquoise waters of the Bristol Channel and back toward the rugged coastline of South Pembrokeshire.
As you walk, the surrounding maritime grassland serves as a vibrant habitat for diverse wildlife. You will often see choughs, rare members of the crow family with distinctive red beaks and legs, performing acrobatic displays along the cliff edges. The area is also home to various butterflies and skylarks, while the waters below are a prime spot for observing grey seals, which can frequently be seen bobbing in the swells or resting on secluded rocky ledges.
The final stretch of the path leads you through a historic stone archway that frames the first glimpse of the bay below. From here, the trail descends via another set of steps directly onto the golden sands of Barafundle Bay, which is backed by a crescent of dunes and pine trees. The walk feels incredibly remote despite its short distance, as the lack of road access preserves the tranquil and wild atmosphere of the cove.
To continue your walking in the area you could pick up the Bosherston to Barafundle Bay Walk.
