Mumbles to Oxwich Coastal Walk

11.1 miles (17.9 km)

This coastal walk follows a superb stretch of the Wales Coast Path across the southern edge of the Gower Peninsula, beginning at the car park just west of Mumbles Head. From the outset the path clings closely to the coastline, with open views across Swansea Bay before turning west into a series of smaller bays backed by steep grassy slopes and limestone cliffs.
The route passes above Caswell Bay, where the sandy beach sits below wooded slopes, before continuing on towards the ruins of Pennard Castle.... From here the path runs along the cliff tops with wide views inland over Pennard Pill and out to sea, before descending slightly towards the dramatic landscape of Three Cliffs Bay. This section is a highlight of the walk, with striking limestone cliffs, sand dunes and the meandering Pennard Pill cutting through the valley to the beach below.
Beyond Three Cliffs Bay the path becomes more open and exposed as it continues west along rolling coastal grassland. The coastline gradually softens as the route approaches Oxwich Bay, where the scenery changes to long stretches of sand, dunes and salt marsh. The final section follows the edge of the bay, with expansive views across the wide beach and calm waters, before finishing at the western end of Oxwich Bay.
At around 11 miles in length, this walk offers a varied and rewarding coastal journey, combining busy bays, historic ruins and some of the most distinctive coastal landscapes on the Gower, all linked by a clearly defined and well-used coastal path.
