Ambleside Stepping Stones Walk

This walk visits the Stepping Stones near the town of Ambleside. It's just over a mile to the stones from the town, following a pleasant lane along the River Rothay to the picturesque spot.... You can start your walk in the town centre and follow paths around the church and through Rothay Park to reach the river path.
Follow it north and it will take you along the river to the stones where you can enjoy some lovely views over the water to the surrounding fells. The ancient stones have been here for centuries and now people come from all over the world to hop across the river, as millions have done before.
You can extend the walk to visit the nearby Rydal Hall overlooking Rydal Water.
