Anderby Creek to Chapel St Leonards Walk
2.8 miles (4.5 km)This walk runs from Anderby Creek to Chapel St Leonards on the Lincolnshire coast. The route runs for just under 3 miles, following the coast path south from the public car park at Anderby Creek.... The trail passes alongside the beach, passing Wolla Bank and Chapel Six Marshes.
The path is part of the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park, offering a relatively flat and straightforward trek through some of the county’s most peaceful landscapes. Before you set off from Anderby Creek, it is worth stopping at the Cloud Bar, the world’s first dedicated cloud-spotting platform, which offers a unique perspective on the area's famous "big skies." As you head south, you can choose to walk directly on the wide, sandy beach or follow the waymarked England Coast Path just behind the dunes for a bit more shelter from the sea breeze.
Wildlife enthusiasts will find plenty to see around Wolla Bank and Chapel Six Marshes, where the reedbeds and flooded clay pits provide a sanctuary for various species. Keep an eye out for marsh harriers soaring over the marshes and listen for the calls of reed and sedge warblers nesting in the thick vegetation. During the winter months, the area becomes a haven for migrating waders and waterfowl, including snipe and bittern. The walk eventually leads you to Chapel Point, where the modern North Sea Observatory provides an ideal spot to warm up and enjoy panoramic views of the coast.
